Ukrainian social media remains the main source of information for Ukrainians abroad

Articles

Even after years of living abroad, most Ukrainians continue consuming Ukrainian informational content. This is reflected in the findings of a study conducted by the Think Ukraine analytical center.

Even while adapting to new countries, Ukrainians maintain a strong informational connection with Ukraine.

Research figures

  • 89.6% get news from Ukrainian sources on social media (Telegram, YouTube, Facebook).
  • 25.5% regularly read Ukrainian media outlets.
  • 23.5% use foreign social media sources.
  • Only 13.1% use Russian-language sources on social media.
  • 4.5% consume Russian-language media.

What this means: even after several years abroad, Ukrainians remain engaged in Ukraine’s information space. This demonstrates the preservation of emotional and social ties with their home country.

What should be considered: Ukrainian informational content abroad remains an important tool for maintaining connections with citizens who left the country during the war.
