Most Ukrainians Are Ready to Pay for Strengthening the Country’s Defense Capabilities

Articles

Despite growing war fatigue, society remains willing to continue financially supporting the country’s defense capabilities. This is an important resource that, in practice, reflects the internal unity of Ukrainians. At the same time, it directly depends on the level of trust in the government and confidence in the effective use of public funds.

Research findings:

  • 73.5% are willing for part of their income, in the form of taxes, to be directed toward strengthening the country’s defense capabilities, including the production of new weapons.

What this means: the majority of society clearly demonstrates support for investing in the country’s survival. At the same time, public support for such decisions could quickly decline if citizens do not understand where the funds are being directed and according to what principles they are being distributed.

What should be taken into account: public demand for accountability in defense spending has risen sharply. During wartime, trust becomes not an abstract value, but the foundation of the social contract. Preserving that trust is only possible through full transparency — when every hryvnia allocated to defense is backed by clear reporting that leaves no questions for either citizens or law enforcement authorities.
