Ukrainians Abroad Are Not Rushing to Buy Property

Articles

Despite gradually adapting to life abroad, most Ukrainians are still not ready to invest in real estate in their host countries. This is according to a study by the analytical center Think Ukraine.

This trend suggests that many Ukrainians continue to maintain strong ties with Ukraine and remain uncertain about their long-term future abroad.

Key Findings

  • 56.7% do not plan to buy or invest in property abroad.
  • 27.2% are considering the possibility, but without concrete plans.

At the same time:

  • 54.5% still have housing in Ukraine that remains in satisfactory condition.
  • 12.6% report that their housing has been damaged.
  • 12.6% do not know the current condition of their property.

What This Means

The findings indicate that most Ukrainians are not yet prepared to establish permanent roots abroad.

Owning housing in Ukraine remains an important factor that preserves their connection to the country and influences future decisions about returning home.

What Should Be Taken Into Account

If the security situation improves, a significant share of Ukrainians already have homes they could potentially return to.

This creates long-term potential for the recovery of Ukraine’s population and economy after the war.
